Sorry for the delay!

Been awhile since I've been on here hasn't it... No new art yet really, though I have been working on some commissioned work.  Since I'm not really an intern at Esente anymore, I may just start a new blog, just to keep myself up to date on the interwebs. Check back and see, I certainly will continue posting artwork as I get it done.

Good News!

So I kind of forgot to post yesterday... oops.  But I do have some great news!  It's official:  I'm staying at Esente!  For now, it's just a job collecting leads, of course I'm still doing a bit of artwork on the side as well, such as the internship blog graphic I did over this past weekend:

Let's just say, I'm extremely excited that I get to stay on here :)  In other good news, that video just keeps creeping on up to 60,000 views.  Last I saw it, it was right around 59,795.  A respectable number, I think.

Today

Not much news to report today, except for a potential job here at Esente doing leads :) Could not be happier to either, just need to figure out how to work around my schedule at Sears, but I'm sure I can find a way to make it work.  No new art work to post yet, though I am working on a couple more blog promo graphics.  Fix You video seems to have a few more views, but still need about 333 more to break 60,000.  Do have a slightly updated version of one of my drunk driving posters, where the blurred text effect came out a bit more like I wanted it to.

What's going on at Esente

Haven't got much news to report today.  Did more leads.  The Fix You video is creeping ever closer to 60,000 views, really wish we could just get 350 more people to watch it already...
Got quite a bit done on my Jayna Fanart:

Feel pretty much done with it, at this point just waiting to do an art critique with Ron, as his feedback is usually pretty good.

Almost done

As it gets down to the last couple of weeks, I'm beginning to wonder what I am going to do with myself not coming in here 3 times a week anymore.  Thank goodness for the Intern 2.0 program, because the monotony of regular life outside of Esente is enough to drive you nuts.
Got some more posters done, and getting started on some fanart for Jayna.

Last few weeks... :(

Getting down to the last few weeks here, which is bittersweet to say the least.
The Fix You video I worked on is currently at over 59,000 views... W. O. W. That is awesome!!!!
Got some feedback on my art from Amanda, going to work on that and post them as they get done.  Yesterday I worked a bit one of my drunk driving posters:

I feel more less finished with it, though I'm sure Ron will have some great feedback to give me when he has a chance to do a critique for all the graphics interns.  Can't wait to hear what he thinks!

Lately at Esente

Seems like we're getting down to the final weeks here at Esente, which means crunch time for many of my posters and other artwork.  Thankfully, I've done some reading up on how to properly use typography, so hopefully my use of text has improved.  Got quite a bit done/improved over the weekend, hopefully when we eventually get feedback the changes I've made turn out to be good ones.

What's going on...

Worked on leads today, got plenty of them.
Video has gotten about a 100 more views, and of course scrolling through the comments we are already seeing an inevitable internet fight... why people feel the need to give their extreme opinion just to start a heated argument is beyond me.
Got some more work done on one of my blog graphics, the Stop Drunk Driving one, which I scrapped and redid, hopefully this one is a bit better.

Seeing it smaller now, I see that once again I need to adjust the text to make it more readable.  Seriously need to work on my typography.

What's up at Esente

Got through a lot of leads today, which is always a good feeling.  Keep checking up on the Fix You video, it's currently at 49,459 views, which I think is incredible!  541 more and we'll be 50,000!  Whoa!!
In other news, so much art to do!

Feel pretty much finished with this one, and I like it's simplicity.  Just seems so much cleaner, which is fitting for a business blog graphic.

Artwork

Finding myself nearing the end of the internship with TONS of artwork left to do... guess I'd better get on that.  I have got some more artwork to post up here though:

 

This will eventually be a part of my final drunk driving poster, with a slogan along the lines of "Your drink is frosty... But there is nothing cool about driving drunk." Hopefully it'll be as effective on paper as it seems in my head.

This one will be my final bullying poster (gave up on the video game one because of the potential politics behind it).  This one is going to be about cyber-bullying, hopefully to demonstrate that its just as bad and scary as physical bullying.

Send to Bands

So yesterday we started sending emails to bands about the One Night Stand event.  For the bands that had emails readily available the process went on without a hitch.  For the other bands, however... Facebook seems to take issue when someone sends message after message to different people in a short space of time, as it kicks you off and asks you to verify your identity.  So that slows things down considerably, though many messages do go through.  On ReverbNation, you can directly mail a band, so long as you have an account on ReverbNation, become a fan of the band, and can say everything you need to say in 140 words or less.  So, as yet, ReverbNation's direct mail is not very viable, or not at least until we have a shorter message that still says what we need it to.
Other than that, business as usual, more leads, more artwork.  No new art ready for posting yet.

Yesterday

Worked on leads as usual, got quite a few in a short space of time.
So the Fix You video is now at over 38,000 views!  Whoa!  I must say, I never expected it to be that successful, so I am ecstatic that it has been.
Also started on another poster, this one for antibullying, I've given up on the video game poster because of its potential political connotations.  So here is the beginnings of it:

Evenutally, it will look like a computer in a dark room with a monster creeping up behind it, going along the lines of cyber bullying being just as scary and hurtful as any other kind of bullying.

Though now I look at it I feel like I should probably just use the laptop from the above poster instead, it looks more interesting...

More Art!

Plenty of leads done today, and the Fix You video is nearing 30,000 views!
I managed to work much more on some art work, including my Becca Fanart, which is very close to the finish line, and some outline work for two drunk driving posters.

 As always, my text needs some serious work, but other than that I really like the way it's coming together.

 

will probably feel the same about these as I get more progress in on them - like the imagery, but probably will have to work on the text a ton.

Fix You

So the Fix You video is now at almost 20,000 views... which leaves me kind of speechless.  All the interns did some social network blasting yesterday to get some more people heading to Becca's youtube channel, be it by twitter, facebook, or texting and emailing family and friends.  For me alone, emailing my family, old bosses, even an old professor seemed to work really well, as my digital media professor from St. Lawrence was thrilled to see the video, and forwarded it to yet more people.  Again today we are going to continue with the social network blasts, gonna try to find different anti-bullying organizations on facebook and twitter to bring some more attention to the video and Becca's Right Now campaign.
Other than that, still no new art work, and did a few more leads today, though didn't get as many as usual today which was kind of disappointing, but it happens.  At least I can just go to the Fix You video to see the view count to cheer myself up :)

What I've been up to

More good news on the Fix You video as it gets more and more views... which is awesome!
No new pictures to post yet, though I have solid outlines down for two more posters and one more graphic, just need to get some actual art on them done before posting, which will probably be soon!
Other than that, more and more leads!  Seem to be flying through lists, as they all seem to only have a dozen or so entries.  These short lists are at least proving to be good ones though, getting plenty of emails from them.

At Esente

Got pulled into the last bit of the morning meeting today for some good news!  The Fix You video I and other interns spent all that time on seems to be a bit of a hit on youtube, having gotten almost 10,000 views over the weekend.  I have to admit, I am pretty proud that that many people liked it enough to watch at least part of it.

What's Up at Esente

Did some more leads today, remembered to bring my headphones today so leads went by really quickly.  Got some more work done on my graphic for the Rock Report:

I'm fairly happy with it so far, though I got some feedback from Amanda on how to improve it a bit, so will post new images as soon as I've played around with it, especially the text at the bottom which needs a bit more pop.  Other than that, not much more to report.

New Project!

So more leads catch up, not too bad.  Had another, more personalized meeting with Ron about the Intern 2.0 program, which I would definitely like to do if for no other reason than to keep making some artwork. 
Also got a new graphic project yesterday!  Basically just making little graphics to promote blogs,  but I'm having fun with it already, here's what I have so far for the Rock Report:

This Weekend

I had plenty of fun this weekend, took a trip to New York City for the New York International Auto Show!  Saw some awesome cars, and even got to visit with some family while I was there.  Here are some of the highlights from the show:

Other than that, just playing more catch up on leads and getting ideas for more posters while polishing up the ones I already have in the works.  Excited for today though, as after lunch everyone is going to get a new creative project to do, depending on what they are interning for, which means new graphic project for me!

Intern 2.0 Program

Lots of leads today, as we try to catch up on them.  At the intern meeting, which was full of hilarious talk of sex and porn scandals, Ron told us more about the intern 2.0 program.  He basically wanted to let us all know that it in no way affects the work we do in this internship, that he won't like any of us any more or less based on whether we do the 2.0 program.  I, personally, am really interested in continuing my internship, I love everything I have done so far and wouldn't mind keeping it up.  Just have to think of ideas for what I would do during it.
No new art to post as of yet, once again...

Today

Not much news today at Esente, plenty more leads done.  Yesterday we also started making a list of bands for the One Night Stand campaign by finding band pages on ReverbNation.  Seems pretty easy to do so far, and it's interesting hearing all the different kinds of music people are playing on there.  No new art to post yet.

Fanart time!

So, finally got the video rendered out in HD, and gave it to Jenny so she could shrink it down for vimeo.  Hopefully it turned out well.
This weekend, I got to work a bit more on my Becca Fanart, having plenty of fun with it so far:

Just going to add some shading to it and maybe change up the background a bit, then put it into InDesign to make it look like a comic book cover :D

Video

Snow day yesterday!  So worked on the video some more at home, but as seems to be the process with projects like this, the final touches are what are taking the longest.  I'm trying to make it as high definition as possible, but with better picture comes longer rendering times, as I am actually waiting for my poor little laptop to render out a top-quality version of the video right now... kinda wish my desktop was more portable, because it's actually designed for projects like this.  But, at least we're at the home stretch at this point, just waiting on my old technology to get the job done.

Fix You Video

More leads today, though not very successful today as Google Drive seemed to have some issues this morning.
Over the weekend, I was able to get a lot of work done on the video, and even got feedback from Ron, polished it a little more, and today seem to be doing just the final polishing up on it.  Hopefully by the end of the day I can say I am done with the video :)  Other than that, not much to really report, still have some work to do on some posters, and the fanart as well.  Will post as soon as I've got some updated images.

Worked on leads some more, seems like I've been flying through lists lately.  But the big project, the "Fix You" Video, is finally coming together.  I redid the last animation to make it a little more obvious what it's about:

What I've been up to.

Not much news to report today, mostly the same old stuff, lots of leads to plow through.  I did however update one of my anti-bullying posters, the text anyway, and finally feel like it at least looks somewhat right.

Still working more on the "Fix You" video too, will post updated version soon as I've gone through my little checklist of changes and tweaks :)

Posters, fanart and more.

Busy weekend this time around.  Finally got some work done on my third anti-bullying poster, and pretty happy with it.

Also got around to some Becca Levy fanart, right now just an outline drawing, but soon going to color it in and give it a background to make it look like a comic book cover.

Also worked some more on the video, just need to fix one of the animations to be a little less ambiguous and then will post the next draft of it up.

Becca!!!

Skipped blogging yesterday, a bit too much going on -- Becca Levy came by for a few days to record some videos for Indiegogo and Kickstarter.  Me and a few other interns actually got to leave leads for a bit to work with Becca on making these videos.  We basically just sat down to work on "scripts" (more outlines than actual scripts, to hopefully give the videos a more improvised feel).  It was for five different videos, and we watched a few different videos other people had put up on Indiegogo and Kickstarter to get ideas for what the most successful videos did and why they were successful.
Today, we all went over the "Fix You" draft I posted on youtube, and finally got down to some tweaks and fixes that need to be done to try to polish this video up a bit.  It's certainly safe to say that I have plenty to work on.
I also worked on two of the anti-bullying posters, specifically the text.  I can’t decide for the first one whether to keep the pink bars or not, and still not liking the font for villain one yet.

 

Guess I’ll just have to keep experimenting and seeing what works.

Activities Lately

Not much news to report today.  Got started on a couple of new art projects, just outlines to start drawing over digitally, not really anything ready to be posted for feedback yet.  Worked more on leads today, found using the Google Maps method gets me a lot more leads much more quickly than using Manta, though it is a bit more disorganized compared to using the Manta lists. 

Over the weekend I was happy to hear that everyone at the office got to see the draft of the “Fix You” video I put up, and that it seems to be going in the right direction.  Can’t wait to get it polished up and finally finished, and I’m sure the other interns who worked on it with me would like to see the final product as well.

I’ve also started to use the “modulate” method that Ron was talking about last time, but I’m finding myself blown away by just how much I have done so far in these few short months, which is definitely a good thing, though I can’t wait to start getting ideas for how to word the “modules” to really boost up my resume.
